ACCS's 8th Grade Graduation Ceremony (Photos and Video)
On Thursday, June 23rd, ACCS celebrated their Class of 2022 as they graduated 8th grade! After welcome statements from Principal Steve DiMatteo and Lead Person Shelly Ward Richards, students recited the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the Star Spangled Banner. Valedictorian Harpreet Singh gave a speech, as well as Board of Trustees Vice President Kenneth King. Students were presented with awards based on academics, extracurricular activities, and character. Once diplomas were given out by Dr. King and Lead Person Richards, 8th grade teacher Rachel Riendeau presented the graduating class as they moved their tassels and received a round of applause.
Congratulations to all our graduates! We’re so proud of you and your accomplishments!

Congrats to the winners of our Shark Tank presentation, Tiana Terrance-Russell, Fleur Greenfield, and Genesis Escoto-Gomez, for their project "Eddie: The Laundry Bot"!
ACCS students present projects "Shark Tank" style!
ACCS students recently presented inventive projects in a "Shark Tank"-style to their peers! The process of creating inventions and pitching them to their classmates helped them learn life skills, such as what it's like to have a small business and how to work collaboratively.
ACCS Teacher receives honor at Atlantic County Educator of the Year Brunch!
Mrs. Connie Biesecker was honored at the Atlantic County Educator of the Year Brunch. She was selected by her peers to represent ACCS as the Educator Support Professional of the Year! Congrats, Mrs. Biesecker!

Today, two of our 8th graders -- Harpreet Singh and Munirah Davis -- were honored at the Atlantic County Academic Excellence Brunch. Also in attendance were Principal DiMatteo, Lead Person Dr. Richards, and Ms. Riendeau.

ACCS holds "Back in the Building: Restorative Justice Families Forum"
On Wednesday, February 23rd, ACCS held a virtual workshop for families called Back in the Building: Restorative Justice Families Forum. This workshop was designed to help families and community supporters recognize key concepts of restorative justice and anti-oppression work.
The facilitator, Tahirah Walker, introduced 3-5 main concepts and practices and why they are being adopted by school communities across the country. These included compassion capacity indexing, dialectic stories, and the art of the healing circle. Mindfulness and peer mediation was discussed as well.
Tahirah Walker is an equity and inclusion consultant who specializes in curriculum and instruction. Dr. Walker is an award-winning teacher and writer. She has written for several outlets including Black Girl Culture, Pitt’s University Times, and Salem Press’ Critical Insights series. Dr. Walker earned a PhD in Rhetoric from Duquesne University and holds a Master of Science degree in Educational Technology Management from Carnegie Mellon University. She began her work in higher education as an undergraduate student at Sarah Lawrence College. Her research interests include intersectionality, educational policy, and Black cultural media studies.

This workshop is designed to help families and community supporters recognize key concepts of restorative justice and anti-oppression work. To make our clinic run as smoothly as possible and reduce the waiting time for our patients, we ask that you please register an account, and schedule an appointment ahead of time! Please follow the included instructions to help guarantee the best experience possible.
