CYBERBULLYING AND SEX TRAFFICKING: HOW TO PROTECT YOUR CHILDREN

The purpose of this optional public facing virtual seminar is intended to inform the New Jersey community on ways to protect children from bias incidents and online predators as it relates to bullying and human trafficking. Topics of discussion will include an overview of bias crimes in New Jersey, the correlation between cyberbullying and bias incidents with school-aged children, and children as victims of human trafficking. The seminar will include resources to protect children on the internet and promote an overall awareness to the community.
The topics to be covered:
Bias crime and bias incidents in New Jersey
An overview of DCR’s YBTF anti-bias report and its recommendations
Bullying, cyberbullying and how to recognize them among school-aged children
Sex trafficking, recruitment techniques and how to identifying victims and traffickers through red flag indicators
Cyber-safety and resources to keep children safe on the internet
The difference between criminal complaints and civil rights related complaints and how to file them
